It is an erect softly velvety annual or short-lived perennial plant with simple or branched, terete or angular stems with spreading hairs. Leaves are 1-10 x 0.5-7 cm, broadly ovate to elliptic with entire or undulate-crenate margins, acute or retuse apex and shortly cuneate base. Flowers are white, infundibular, and tubular constricted at the throat, hairy outside, and glabrous inside and arranged in terminal, spike-like dense cymes. The fruit is ovoid and composed of 4 trigonous, glabrous, finely rugose nutlets.
