Physical description

Sent us in numbers by Morrison as from Sonora, these examples agreeing with others before me from Arizona, &c. Smaller than C. modestus, with the elytra more or less distinctly nigro-bifasciate on the disc (the fasciæ formed by oblong spots) and the punctures of the striæ somewhat scattered and not covered by the vestiture, the prothorax with two small, obliquely placed, black spots on each side posteriorly, the head (as in C. modestus) with a small bare spot behind the eyes. C. placidus, Horn, also from Arizona, must be a very closely allied form, perhaps not really distinct from C. lautus.
