Range Description

This widespread species occurs in Bolivia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, Paraguay, and Venezuela, at altitudes from 0 to 2,500 m (Hunt et al. 2006). In Mexico the species is found in the states of Guanajuato, Hidalgo, Jalisco, Oaxaca, Puebla, Querétaro, San Luis Potosí, Sonora, and Tamaulipas (Hernández et al. 2004). Other authors report the species from Chiapas (Breedlove 1987) and Veracruz (Sosa and Gómez-Pompa 1994). It has also been recorded from Guerrero, Nayarit and Sinaloa (Guzmán et al. 2003). In Venezuela, its distribution is patchy and it occurs in the states of Lara, Mérida, and Táchira.
