Native range

Austrocylindropuntia floccosa is endemic to the higher elevations of the Andes Mountains in Bolivia and northern Peru, on the continent of South America; in fact, this species is one of the highest elevation occurring taxa within the cactaceae family, with documented Andean occurrences as high as 4500 meters.
