Silphium laciniatum (Compassplant) is a species of perennial herb in the family Asteraceae. They have a self-supporting growth form. They are native to Canada, The Contiguous United States, Eastern North America, and North America. They have simple, broad leaves. Flowers are visited by Eastern Tiger Swallowtail and Black Swallowtail. Individuals can grow to 0.5 m.
