Oecanthus fultoni

Oecanthus fultoni, also known as the snowy tree cricket.[1] or thermometer cricket,[1] is a species of tree cricket from North America.[2] Before 1960, the name Oecanthus niveus was wrongly applied to this species.[3]

In popular culture[edit source | edit]

It is a major plot point in the The Big Bang Theory episode "The Jiminy Conjecture", where Sheldon wrongly believes that a common field cricket, Gryllus assimilis, found in the apartment, is a snowy tree cricket.
