This species name is an artifact
"Chorthippus parvulus (Saussure, 1899)" seems to be an artifact. In Saussure 1899 the only species name with parvul- is Oecanthus parvulus from Madagascar, synonym of Oe. brevicauda from South Africa (Oecanthus is a genus of tree crickets). The only reference for the combination "Chorthippus parvulus" that Google Books finds is Gerlach 2008. (included in "Insect Conservation and Islands"). There it is listed on p. 301 under Gryllidae. The grasshopper genus Chorthippus is restricted to the northern hemisphere. In Orthoptera Species File Online and in Otte's print volume (1995) there is no grasshopper named parvulus or parvula with Saussure as author.
