The blue-winged grasshopper usually has bright blue hind wings. In the Netherlands, it is found particularly in the dunes, where it lives among in open sands or dunes covered with low vegetation. It often sits between grey hair-grass, lichens or open marram grass. It is found on Texel, Vlieland and Terschelling. Blue-winged grasshoppers hardly make any noise.
