Description of Aspidisca lynceus

A small, ovoid hypotrich with a straight left border. The body has a smooth outline and is up to 50 microns long. The dorsal surface is without ornamentation. The seven frontoventral cirri occur in the 'lynceus' arrangement. There are five transverse cirri. A distinctive spike-like projection may separate the extreme left pair of transverse cirri. The macronucleus is horseshoe-shaped.
