Relevance to Humans and Ecosystems

Benefits

Status

As shown by Calvo et al. (2009), Dendropoma forms a species complex in the Mediterranean. Further research into linking historic type material with clades recognized by molecular methods is needed. The nominal species D. petraeum and its subjective senior synonym D. cristatum (see Scuderi, 1995) are therefore both listed here.
