Range Description

The species occurs in the Mexican state of Tamaulipas, and in Texas in the United States, at elevations of 250 to 750 m asl (Hernández et al. 2004, Martínez-Ávalos and Jurado 2005). In south Texas, it grows south of San Antonio and east of Laredo to the coast north of the Rio Grande. In the Rio Grande plain it occurs at low elevations. It has been reported from adjacent northeastern Mexico (Tamaulipas) (Taylor 1985).
