Range Description

Bythiospeum excelsior is endemic to Austria. This species was recorded from alluvial deposits of the brook Fischach downstream of Maria Sorg (perhaps coming from the mountain Hochgitzen or from the gravels of the brook Fischach), discharge of a spring at the Gaisberg near Guggental and at the Heuberg above Schwandt. However, Patzner (2006) notes that this species has not been found since it was first collected.
