Overview

Distribution

Aonides paucibranchiata was observed in both periods across the entire Belgian part of the North Sea with exception of the coastal zone. Contrary to the 1994-2001 period this species had a high distribution frequency in the 1976-1986 period. The maximum density in both periods amounted to approximately 100 ind./m2.

Ecology

Habitat

Aonides paucibranchiata is typically found in coarse sediment (median grain size > 250 µm). From a median grain size of 450 µm the chance of finding this species amounts to 20%. Aonides paucibranchiata is solely observed in sediments with a mud content < 10%.
