Comments: Silphium confertifolium is included within S. trifoliatum var. latifolium by Kartesz (1994 checklist), but recognized separately by the USFWS (1993 notice of review) and by the Alabama and Mississippi Heritage Programs. LEM 30Mar95. However, as of 11/95, Alabama's state tracking record has the comment, " ALNHP no longer recognizes S. confertifolium as a separate species."
