Berberis julianae

Berberis julianae (Wintergreen barberry or Chinese barberry) is a flowering evergreen shrub of the Berberidaceae family. The species is native to Central China, but is grown as an ornamental plant in temperate regions. It grows to 3 metres, as a dense bush with spiny obovate leaves, suitable for hedging. Yellow flowers tinged with red appear in late Spring, followed by black fruits with a white bloom.[1][2]

This plant has gained the Royal Horticultural Society's Award of Garden Merit.[3]
