Range Description

This is a wide ranging species found in the Central and Western Pacific including Papau New Guinea, the Philippines, and China. Also French Polynesia, Hawaii, the Indian Ocean including Cocos (Keeling) island, and North Western Australia. It is found in the intertidal range to around 75 m (Röckel et al. 1995). The form fustigatus represents the population from French Polynesia with a different radula tooth than western populations in the range, and may be a different subspecies (G. Raybaudi pers. comm. 2011).
