Description of Rhynchodida

Rhynchodid ciliates, somatic ciliature organized in a thigmotactic field, which may be divided in two, leaving a large part of the cell surface bare; kinetids may not be ciliated; no posterior adhesive region; parasites of the respiratory structures of invertebrates, commonly bivalve molluscs.
