Description of Lagenophryidae

Sessiline peritrich ciliate, solitary, loricate; lorica closed by lip-like folds or flap-like operculum; body, attached at oral end, almost fills lorica; lorica, flattened hemisphere attached to substrate by long axis; telotroch forming to left side of parent (when viewed from above); ectosymbionts, especially of crustacea.
