The diamondback water snake is part of a family of 10 water snakes. These snakes have flattened heads and ridged scales. They live in or near water and eat fish and amphibians. The diamondback water snake has a diamond-shaped pattern on its back. To hunt, it dangles from branches. Then it dips its head into the water to catch its prey.
