This species is widely distributed across the Indo-Gangetic plains, ranging from Bangladesh through the Central and United Provinces of India (Smith 1935), and west to the upper and lower Indus Valleys in Pakistan. Its definite records are from Sindh and Punjab, District Jhang (Mertens 1974, Khan and Mirza 1977). It occurs at elevations between 50 to 200 m above sea level (M.S. Khan pers. comm.). Although this species has a wide distribution, it is severely fragmented across its range (M.S. Kahn pers. comm. 2010).
