Range Description

This species is a peninsular Florida endemic restricted to the St. Johns and Withlacoochee river systems south to the Everglades. It is one of only a few unionids restricted to Florida (Johnson 1972). Specifically, it isknown from the drainages Kissimme, Ookeechobee, Everglades, Hillsborough and Peace (Johnson 1972, J. Brimbox pers. comm. 2002). Its extent of occurrence is estimated as between 5,000 and 20,000 km2.
