This species has been recorded from northern Australia and the island of New Guinea (Papua Province, Indonesia and Papua New Guinea). In Australia it is present in north Western Australia, north Northern Territory, coastal Queensland, and north-east New South Wales. On New Guinea, it has only been recorded from a few widely scattered localities. It ranges from sea level to 500 m asl in Queensland (L. Hall pers. comm.), but probably occurs 0-400 m asl elsewhere.
