Biology

This species is carnivorous and captures food by using its modified gills as a water pump to suck in prey via a raptorial inhalant siphon. Bordering the siphons are a set of glands (termed arenophilic) that glue sand and other sediment particles to the shell, probably for camouflage (Oliveira & Sartori, 2014).
