Inflorescences solitary, cymose, loosely dichasial, in the form of an umbel or cluster. Flowers bisexual, ± actinomorphic. Perianth segments 5, free, persistent. Staminodes often present, sometimes petaloid. Stamens 3-many. Ovary superior, of united carpels; ovules 1, few or many. Fruit an achene, mericarp or loculicidal capsule.
