Description

Column with large tubercles, tending to form 12 longitudinal rows and ending in a ring of 12 prominent tubercles at the upper edge of the scapus, just below the tentacles. Tentacles variable in colour, white, red or brown, often striped.

Habitat

Found on muddy seabeds below 50m depth. The base can contain a ball of mud, anchoring it to the seabed, but it is also capable of attaching to stones or shells.
