Range Description

Sympecma paedisca has a large range occurring from western Europe to Japan with most of its range found in the temperate zone and the species is largely lacking from the boreal region. Densities vary strongly with the species being rare in some regions but being among the more common species in others. The species showed a strong decline in western Europe in the second half of the 20th century but is presently recovering in parts of its range with even an expansion being noticed in Sweden.
