Brief Summary

Read full entry
Gymnosperms are vascular plants that bear naked seeds not enclosed in specialized chambers. There are four divisions of Gynosperms: Cycadophyta, which resemble palms; Ginkgophyta, of which the ginkgo is an ornamental tree with fan-like leaves; Gnetophyta, to which the Weltwitschia is a member; and Coniferophyta, defined as cone-bearing plants, and by far the largest division. Pines, firs, and redwoods are examples of species that fall into the conifer division.
