Melanis pixe is a stray into southern portions of the United States, and ranges south to Panama (Scott 1986). Habitats are subtropical. Host plants are tree Leguminosae, restricted to one species: Pithecellobium dulce There are multiple flights all year in s. Tex, but only after several years without frost so adults move north from Mex. the approximate flight time X depending on latitude **OR** X in the northern part of the range and X in the southern part of their range (Scott 1986).
