Range Description

This species ranges from Tennessee and southwest Virginia to southern Michigan, Illinois and Iowa (Burch 1989). In the upper Mississippi drainage, it can be found in southern Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, and Ohio; as well as eastern Iowa and southwestern Virginia (van der Schalie and Dundee 1955). Clarke (1981) notes some claims of its occurrence in Canada in southern Ontario, but does not list it for Canada because there are no confirmed records.
