Range Description

This wide-ranging species is known from South Africa, Madagascar, Taiwan, Japan, the Phillippines, New Caledonia, and Vanuatu (Holthuis 2002). There is an unconfirmed report from Papua New Guinea, and records from Hawaii (Clarke 1972) have been reclassified as another species (Galearctus aurora) by Holthuis (2002). Larvae were recorded off the southern coast of Queensland, Australia (Ritz 1977) and adults have been caught as by-catch (Barker et al. 2004, Courtney et al. 2007).
