Range Description

The species is widespread in South America, occurring from Mexico southwards to Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil) (de Melo 2003). The species has also been introduced into Florida, from which it has likely spread naturally to neighboring states (Texas, North Carolina, Louisiana).
