Range Description

This lizard is confined to the mountain ranges of the central Sahara. It has been recorded from the Acacus Mountains of southwestern Libya, the Ahaggar (=Hoggar) and Tassili n'Ajjer in southern Algeria, the Adrar des Iforas in northeastern Mali, and the Ar Mountains of northern Niger (Geniez et al. 2011). There is a recent report from Tibesti in Chad (Trape et al. 2012). Known records are from between 390 and 1,736 m asl., with the majority known from sites close to or above 1,000 m (Geniez et al. 2011).
