On this page: http://www.biolib.cz/en/imagedeterminations/id21054/ the bird in the image is identified (correctly, I believe) as Lagopus lagopus and the image is credited to Tim Bowman. On this page:http://www.biolib.cz/en/imagedeterminations/id20809/ the very same bird in the very same image is identified as L. muta (incorrectly, I believe) and the image is credited to Karen Bollinger. Someone needs to clarify the identities of both the bird and the photographer!

come on man, why in heck did the ptarmigan have to be alaska's state bird? the stupid things can't even fly that far. heck, i shot one in the head with a freakin .22 rifle when i was like... 7!
