This species is known from the western flank of the central Andes in the departments of Quindío, Valle del Cauca, Caldas and Risaralda, Colombia, from 2,650-3,100m asl.

Habitat and Ecology
It occurs on herbaceous vegetation or on humid rocks, about 20cm above the ground. It is possible to find individuals under small waterfalls or in small brooks covered by undergrowth, or under alder crops (Alnus acuminata) in the forest and forest edges. It has not been found outside forest habitat. Breeding is by direct development.

Its range does not include any protected areas. It should be noted that some other species of Eleutherodactylus that are associated with streams have undergone dramatic declines and disappearances, possibly due to chytridiomycosis, so the status of this species should be monitored carefully.
