This is not Gallionella. It is Leptothrix. I worked with both organisms for many years and did a lot of microscopy on both. Gallionella does not have a sheath, it has a twisted stalk. Leptothrix, as shown here has a sheath that is encrusted with manganese, hence the orangey/rusty appearance.
