This species is known from northern Viet Nam (Inger et al., 1999; Orlov et al., 2000), northeastern Myanmar (Boulenger, 1887), and northern Thailand in Doi Inthanon, Chiang Mai and southwestern Yunnan in China. It probably occurs more widely than current records suggest, especially in areas between known sites, and it is presumed to be present in Lao People's Democratic Republic. It has been recorded at mid to high altitudes, from 650-2,100m asl.
