Range Description

Caridina tumida is only known from the type locality in Yingde County, Guangdong Province, China (Wang et al. 2008). It is known from a single mountain stream about 150 m in length. Other close by streams were surveyed and the species was not found (other species were recorded). According to aquarium trade harvesters, the species occurred in two additional streams, but due to deforestation (loss of shading) in the past 10 years the species is no longer found in these locations.
