Gale McCullough commented on an older version of Orion 2010-06-11[rk3] 11-45-20:

Since 1988 I have been observing a group of seals that use a set of rocks near our home as a high tide haulout. Individuals can be identified by spots, scars, patterns on their bodies. This seal "Orion" has returned every year since I started. She was an adult when I first identified her in 1988 so that makes her at least 27 years old.

This adult male I have known since it was a juvenile in 2002. He is identifiable by the semi-circle of indents (puncture wounds?) on his belly. The growth on his eye showed up in 2006, irritating as it may be, he appears healthy and well fed. He appears every summer including 2010 when this photo was taken. Several veterinarians, game wardens, and others familiar with wildlife thought this is a pappiloma virus. But Sue Sayer from the Cornwall Seal Group consulted veternarians that work for her and it appeared to them to be excessive granulation or scarring as the result of a wound.

These are most likely Harbor seals but their noses are long enough to be Gray seals. A second opinion?

There might be a mix of seals both Harbor and Gray seals? Too far to tell for sure. Looks like a couple have injuries.

There is a slight possibility these are young grey seals... their noses look too long for Harbor seals, could someone verify?
