Male on average larger and heavier than female. Like a large domestic cat and can be difficult to distinguish. Typical cat form but with longer limbs and with  proportionately longer tail. Grizzled buffish above with blackish stripe down the center of the back. Paler along flanks. Whitish to pale buff below marked with pale brown spots that form vertical stripes along the shoulder and sides. Brown transverse bands on the legs, legs paler inside. Feet yellowish with broken stripes. Muzzle short, orange around nose with white patch below the eye. Cheeks striped. Throat and upper lips also white. Discreet striping on face. Almost no tuft on ears, orange-buff behind, whitish inside. Tail long, blackish above, at  base with three blackish rings and dark tip.
