Range Description

Merriam's Pocket Gopher is endemic to Mexico, where it is found in the southern part of the Valley of Mexico, Sierra de Las Cruces, Sierra de Ajusco, the Popocatpetl-Iztacchutl range, and from Lerma to western Puebla in the Valley of Toluca (Hafner et al. 2005). The species ranges in elevation from 1,800 m to 4,000 m asl (Hafner et al. 2005).
