Range Description

The distribution of Pipistrellus melckorum is unclear because of taxonomic confusion with P. capensis. Simmons (2005) records the range as 'Southwestern South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique, Kenya, Tanzania'. It may also be present in Malawi. The species has recently been recorded for the first time from the island of Madagascar (Bates et al. 2006), where it was found at Parc National de Mantadia in Province de Toamasina, and Antsahabe, Anjozorobe, in Province d’Antananarivo.
