Brief Summary

Read full entry
In the wild, chinchillas live in burrows and shelters under rocks or in the ground. They are able to live in colder environments because they have such thick fur. They mostly eat vegetation. They are social animals, and so they live in groups that are called herds. They live 10+ years in the wild, but have been known to live 20+ years in captivity.
