Range Description

This species occurs in the upper hill to upper-montane forests throughout the central mountain chain of the island of New Guinea (Indonesia and Papua New Guinea). It has been extirpated from the Hunstein, Schrader, and the Torricelli ranges, and probably the Adelberts (L. Salas pers. comm.). There are fossil records from the Vogelkop and from the Arfak Mountains. It occurs from 800 to 3,100 m asl.
