DistributionRead full entry
DistributionDistributed widely throughout north-central California with populations known from Mendocino, Napa, Shasta, Sutter, and Tehama Counties (Map 18). Aptostichus barackobamai has been collected in the Mayacamas Mountains in the west, Sutter Butte in the Central Valley, and the ridges to the north ringing the northernmost extension of the Central Valley. The DM (Map 19) indicates that the species is likely to be more widely distributed throughout the region and should occur further to the south along the Central Valley eastern ranges. The primary habitat type is mixed redwood and coniferous forest. Males have been collected in August, September, and December.
