Range Description

This species ranges from northern Angola, through southern Democratic Republic of Congo and northern Zambia, to southwestern and southern Tanzania, and Malawi. The subspecies Hyperolius quinquevittatus mertensi is known only from the Nyika Plateau in northern Malawi. It is presumed to occur in northern Mozambique, but there have not so far been any records. It generally occurs at middle to higher elevations, usually above 1,000 m, and occurring up to at least 2,300 m asl.
