Range Description

This species is known only from Lake Chapala, Jalisco, Mexico (Hobbs 1989). This lake has a surface area of 1,100 km2 (Villalobos-Figueroa and Hobbs 1981) and is at an altitude of approximately 1,520 m above sea level (Lind and Davalos-Lind 2002). Villalobos-Figueroa and Hobbs (1981) mapped the distribution of this species within Lake Chapala, and from this, the species is estimated to have an extent of occurrence of approximately 40 km2.
