Range Description

This species is currently found from the Patapsco Basin in Maryland, to Saluda Basin in South Carolina, USA (Hobbs 1989). Members of this species' complex were recently identified from the Catawba River and tributaries in North Carolina and South Carolina (Alderman 2005). Also, collections from several habitats were made from Valley Creek in southeastern Pennsylvania and are attributable to this complex, with some speculation that they may warrant a new state endemic species (Lieb et al. 2008). The extent of occurrence of this species has been estimated as 245,304 km2.
