Range Description
This species is distributed in West Africa and Central Africa. It has been recorded in from Benin and Nigeria in West Africa, with a seemingly disjunct second population distributed from Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea (Rio Muni) and northern Gabon, into Central African Republic and much of the Congo Basin of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

This species is generally found in lowland tropical moist forest throughout much of the range, but has also been reported from gallery forest. It can be found in secondary habitats. Animals are usually found singly or in pairs

Listed as Least Concern in view of its wide distribution, presumed large population, it probably occurs in a number of protected areas, has a tolerance of a degree of habitat modification, and because it is unlikely to be declining fast enough to qualify for listing in a more threatened category.
