Range Description

This species is widespread throughout northern and north-eastern New Guinea (Indonesia and Papua New Guinea). It was introduced (6,000 - 7,000 years ago) to the islands of Bagabag, New Britain, New Ireland, and Umboi (Papua New Guinea). The species has also been recorded from the island of Yapen (Indonesia), however, it has possibly been extirpated from here. It ranges in elevation from sea level up to around 2,100 m asl.
