Hippopotamus amphibius (Common Hippopotamus) is a species of Mammal in the family hippopotamuses. They are listed as vulnerable by IUCN and in cites appendix ii. They are associated with freshwater habitat. They are native to Ethiopia. They are nocturnal omnivores. Individuals are known to live for 654 months. They have parental care (female provides care and paternal care). They rely on swimming to move around.
